How To Beat The Florida Heat In Style?

Florida – The Sunshine State is one of the dream destinations for the sun-seekers, beachgoers and the theme park lovers. The State is blessed with year-round of the sunshine but the Summers are pretty brutal when the temperature is between the 80s – 90s with high humidity that discourages the enthusiasm of even loyal sun worshiper.

If you’re planning to visit Florida soon this Summer, here is a list of my few tips to beat the scorching heat of The Sunshine State in style and enjoy your vacation fullest!

1) Hydrate yourself as much as you can

How To Beat The Florida Heat In Style? It may sound cliche to re-fill yourself with plenty of fluids during Summer but sometimes we are occupied with endless things that we forget to drink water when we work or on the vacation. Therefore I’ve started using the app Daily Water that counts my daily intake of water. There’re many Hydration Apps available on iTunes store and Google play that you can download to meet your requirement. But never underestimate the power of fluids as dehydration can be dangerous resulting in fatigue, muscle cramps and headaches. Don’t forget to Carry a refillable water bottle everywhere you go as it will help you is saving money on the purchased water bottles.

2) Say hello to natural fruit juices/fresh fruits

How To Beat The Florida Heat In Style? The scorching Summer heat always tempts you to pick any cold beverage that comes in handy but beware that most of the popular choices are overloaded with calories and artificial flavors that increase the water intake of your body. Therefore, go for freshly squeezed orange/pomegranate juice or coconut water to keep your body cool. Eat cucumber, watermelon, Honeydew melon, radish and mint that makes your body ready to beat the Summer heat.

3) Cotton fabric is your true friend

The cotton fabric is one of the most popular Summer fabrics to keep you cool from the Florida heat. You can also rely on lightweight linen, georgette or chiffon fabrics for the very hot day. Wear light-weight and loose fitted breathable clothes. If you sweat too much, do carry an extra pair of clothes when you visit outdoors!

4) Get some cool sunglasses and hats

Most of the Floridians never step outside without hats and sunglasses because not only it looks trendy but also protects eyes from the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Go for those sunglasses that filter out 99-100% of UV rays and reduces glare. If you’re going to a beach, wear sunglasses with a darker tint to block more light as your risk of eye damage from the sun is greater due to the reflection of the water.

5) Don’t step out without sunscreen

As Florida is always sunny, you need to always wear a broad spectrum sunscreen. That means you need protection from UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are responsible for causing premature aging resulting in wrinkles by altering skin DNA. UVB rays are responsible for sunburns as they damage the outermost layer of your skin. Exposure to both types of rays tremendously increases your chances of skin cancer. The irony is the blazing Florida sun doesn’t discriminate between both the rays. As per the experts from the American Academy of Dermatologist, choose sunscreens that have SPF ratings no lower than 30 and no greater than 50. Don’t forget to reapply at least every two hours no matter what SPF rating your sunscreen has. It is better to be safe than sorry!

6) Use less makeup

Walking around in 90-degree hot and humid heat with full makeup can result in smudges, smears and sweats. To avoid all the Summer heat mess, just lighten your makeup routine and go for using what you only need, for instance – the concealer to cover shadows and spots if required under eyes and on areas of concern gently with fingers, apply little eye-makeup and you’re good to go!

I’ve been using Almay products this Summer and am quite happy with its results. It doesn’t make my skin looks flaky or patchy and gives a perfect flawless nude look. You can also check out some of my skincare Summer tips here and protect your skin while traveling!

7) Be a water baby

Whether you love lazing inside pool or playing with undulating waves at the beach, water play is one of the most common ways to beat the heat among Floridians. There’re many waterparks where you can get the perfect vibes of Summer splashes to spend some wonderful time with your family and stay cool.

8) Visit Indoor attractions

How To Beat The Florida Heat In Style? The Florida sun is hottest between noon and 4:30 PM. So, go to indoor attractions. As Florida is well renowned as theme parks capital in the entire world. From the magic of the Walt Disney World to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Universal Orlando Resort, from the underwater attractions of the Sea World to the adventure of the Legoland, the Sunshine State has all the power to fulfill your wildest theme park dreams and fun filled vacation for your entire family. These theme parks have many indoor rides and attractions that you need to plan wisely if you want to beat the Florida heat.

Universal Orlando Resort is one of my personal favorites as there’re many cool indoor 3D/4D rides and attractions that not only satisfy your adrenaline cravings but also helps you to beat the heat without compromising the fun part.

9) Enjoy the last few days of Summer 2018 fullest

Whether you’re visiting Florida for the business or leisure, the most important part is to enjoy the last few days of Summer in The Sunshine State and make some great memories to treasure for your lifetime. After all, Summer of 2018 won’t come again!

    1. One huge reason why I don’t visit FL more often is because it’s just way too hot. Sunscreen is so important because it feels like the sun is just beaming and following you.
