Ft. Lauderdale: The Venice Of America

Ft. Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America. It is 28 miles north of Miami, Florida. Like Venice, Ft. Lauderdale is a town laced with water. There are 300 miles of intra-coastal waterways. But these are not the place for a gentle ride in a gondola. You’d be mown down in no time by a multi-million-dollar superyacht. Did you know that Ft. Lauderdale is the mega yacht capital of the world?

While cruising, you’ll see eye-popping mansions along Millionaire’s Row, the mega-yachts of the rich and famous and private islands. I spent more than 10 hours one day cruising along the intercoastal waterway and New River and my entire experience was amazing!

Ft. Lauderdale: The Venice Of America

There are many ways to explore the canals of Intercoastal waterways. You can take a sightseeing tour from the Jungle Queen Riverboat, or sail a pirate ship with Bluefoot Pirate Family Adventures or go for hop-on and hop-off Water Taxi tours. All these tours are conducted by Coast Guard Licensed Captain describing the sights, the famous Millionaire’s Row which stretches from Tarpon Bend all the way out to the Intracoastal Waterway. As you look around, you will see multi-million dollar homes lining the river banks. Your Captain will tell you about the celebrities, CEO’s, millionaires and billionaires who own these magnificent properties. Breathtaking views will be yours to see along the tour of the New River, the Intracoastal Waterway, and Port Everglades. But, if you’ve got a millionaire friend to take you for a joyride on his yacht, I bet, you’ll have the time of your life!

    1. What I do like about this place (based on your photos) is that it’s not crowded by people/tourists compared to Venice.. less crowd makes it more beautiful
